TTi Has found the need and opportunity to explore the gap of availing pre-cooked beans products in Tanzania. Hence necessitated the need of partnering with OTHER STAKE HOLDERS to explore the possibility of first distributing precooked beans in Tanzania and later at establishing a processing plant.
TTi has been distributing pre-cooked beans in Tanzania (Dar es Salaam, Mwanza, Kilimanjaro, Arusha and Dodoma) over the past 5 months. Current sales record shows a clear demand of pre-cooked beans which triggered the need to establish a local plant to compliment the daily growing demand. Tanzania ranks 5th worldwide in bean production and is the leading producer of beans in Africa. Smallholder farmers who operate 1 to 5 acres on the average produce over 70% of the national bean production in Tanzania for own consumption and for markets (about 40% of the harvests are marketed by households). With that, Processing beans in Tanzania will greatly impact the beans value chain by ensuring an equitable market, creation of employment opportunities in local communities, environmental conservation by reducing charcoal usage by households.
